Job Summary

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as Assistant General Counsel. In this role, you will provide strategic advice and counsel arising in the regular course of business, focusing on property/casualty insurance, life insurance, general corporate, transactional, regulatory, compliance, legislative, governmental relations and contracts. You will be responsible for helping the Company achieve its business objectives while minimizing risk.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all assigned duties and tasks, including but not limited to, the principal accountabilities as set forth below. This includes providing legal advice and counsel to all companies within the Alfa Group and their officers, directors and employees.
- Keep up to date with all laws, rules, regulations and cases impacting the Company and notifying appropriate parties of same.
- Review, negotiate and revise contracts on behalf of the Company.
- Responsible for providing legal advice and assistance in all areas as required and provide assistance to all departments related to insurance laws, regulatory compliance and customer issues.
- Protect Company interests and advance Alfa’s business objectives through governmental relations and the legislative process.
- Assist Legal Department with transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures partnership, strategic affiliations, restructuring, financing, licensing, real estate and investments.
Qualifications
- College Degree: a JD is required. The incumbent must be a member of the Bar in good standing.
- 5 years of general legal experience is preferred either in private practice or in-house corporate setting.
- Must be willing to travel overnight and work extended hours, including evenings and weekends if needed.
- Must be able to work unsupervised.
- Strong computer skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Work well with others.
- Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Must be able to work in a high-paced environment with critical deadlines and competing priorities.
- Must pay attention to detail and have strong writing and grammar skills.
- Problem-solve and analyze issues quickly and efficiently.

- Must be able to manage outside counsel.
